Muskoka has always attracted winter visitors who treasure the pristine scenic beauty and varied outdoor activities. Its fine dining establishments and elegant theatres and resorts also welcome the guests with seasonal fare and entertainment. Gravenhurst Opera House presents the Barra MacNeils from Cape Breton in an ‘East Coast Christmas’ musical show on December 6. Bala is famous for its annual Trek to Bethlehem, transforming its streets into a biblical village where guests can experience the wonders of the first Christmas. Huntsville’s Algonquin Theatre hosts Natalie MacMaster and Connell Leahy, together with family members, for an evening of Celtic medleys and holiday classics on December 8; and then it presents Susan Aglukark, an Inuk from Nunavut who has become one of Canada’s most honoured artists, on December 14. JW Marriott The Rosseau Resort and Spa is home to the annual ‘Homegrown Christmas Jam’, an interactive community concert. Beyond the joys of the slopes, trails, and rinks, December is the perfect time to discover the culture and cuisine of Muskoka.
