As we head into Muskoka Pride Week 2025, this year’s theme “Reclaim, Resist, Rejoice” carries profound meaning for our 2SLGBTQ+ community and our allies. Let’s unpack why it resonates so deeply: 🔹 Reclaim - For too long, queer identities, histories, and voices have been suppressed or erased—especially in smaller towns and rural regions. “Reclaim” invites us to lift up the contributions of 2SLGBTQ+ people in Muskoka: our stories, our spaces, and our presence. It’s about saying, “We were here. We belong. And we’re still shining.” 🔹 Resist - Progress is never a straight line—and in 2025, we still face setbacks: from erasure in media to legislative threats and everyday bias. “Resist” calls on each of us—especially our allies—to stand firm against oppression, to fight for queer rights in education, in law, in health care, and in our hearts. It is a collective resolve to not go backward, but push forward. 🔹 Rejoice - This theme closes with celebration—because despite all the challenges, queer joy endures. “Rejoice” is a powerful act of self‑affirmation: in drag shows under starlit skies, in love freely given and shared, in solidarity, in harmony.
