As we head into Muskoka Pride Week 2026, this year’s theme “Still Here, Still Fighting, Still Proud” carries profound meaning for our 2SLGBTQ+ community and our allies. There is power in simply existing. In a time when 2SLGBTQ+ rights and identities are once again being questioned, debated, and challenged, the 2026 Muskoka Pride theme is both a reminder and a declaration: we are STILL HERE. We have always been here. We are your family, your friends, your neighbours, your coworkers, and your community. We will not disappear, and we will not be erased. STILL FIGHTING means recognizing that the work is not finished. Too many people in our community still experience fear, discrimination, isolation, and hatred. In rural communities like Muskoka, creating safe spaces, building connections, and standing up for one another remains as important as ever. We continue to fight because everyone deserves to live openly, safely, and with dignity. And through it all, we remain STILL PROUD. Proud of who we are. Proud of those who fought before us. Proud of our resilience, our joy, our love, and our community. Pride has always been more than a celebration — it is visibility, resistance, hope, and belonging. This is why Pride organizations must continue doing this work. Pride events create spaces where people feel seen, supported, and safe. They remind those who feel alone that they are not alone. In moments of uncertainty, visibility matters. Community matters. Pride matters. In 2026, we stand together and say: We are still here. We are still fighting. And we are still proud. |
