We are excited to announce that YWCA Muskoka and Muskoka Pride are partnering to organize Walk a Mile in Their Shoes - a fundraising event for gender-based violence prevention in Muskoka. The event will be held on Sunday, May 29 at 11am in Memorial Park, Bracebridge.
Over the past six years, over 300 walkers have stepped up to Walk a Mile, including sport teams, local businesses, clubs, community leaders and families. This is a walk for everyone. People of all genders and all ages are encouraged to walk a mile and show Muskoka that you stand in solidarity with women, girls, and Two Spirit, trans, and gender diverse and queer people who are at highest risk of experiencing gender-based violence by walking this May. Wear your comfiest pair of shoes for walking, your team's jersey, your organization's uniform, or anything red! Our goal is to raise $30,000 to run youth programs in Muskoka. Why youth? Because when it comes to violence prevention, reaching youth of all genders during their most formative years is extremely important. These programs explore issues that help young people develop healthy relationships now and in the future. Your support will have a direct impact on a young person’s experience of safety and wellbeing. THANK YOU TO OUR 2022 SPONSORS!
