Click this link to go there now! The Muskoka Pride Committee, in partnership with Rainbow Health Ontario, invite you to join us for a FREE screening of the Academy Award-nominated film "Milk". Starring Sean Penn in the title role, "Milk" is a biographical film based on the life of gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk, who was the first openly gay person to be elected to public office in California. The film will be shown at the Gravenhurst Scout Hall (425 John St. S) starting at 7:00PM. Admission is free, however a donation bucket will be available to help support Muskoka Pride Week events. Join Muskoka Pride for a sunset campfire and a non-denominational spiritual gathering of community and fellowship with Rev. Sue Woods. Members of the LGBT Community, as well as Allies, are invited for an evening of reflection and camaraderie. Rev. Sue Woods is minister of the Bala and Port Carling United Churches. This event is being held at a private residence - parking on the grass; bring a chair and blanket. Huntsville Public Library now has its display out. Gravenhurst and Bracebridge Public Libraries will have their displays out in time for Pride Week. (Click the photo to see resources in Huntsville Library's LGBT collection) Muskoka Pride Challenges Businesses to Celebrate Diversity and Inclusion with Window Display Contest7/12/2013 The Muskoka Pride Committee is holding a contest that is open to all businesses in Muskoka. Local businesses are challenged to have a window or shelf/counter display that promotes awareness and acceptance for the LGBTQA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and ally) community. Businesses are encouraged to be creative and colourful, creating their window or shelf/counter display and finding ways to incorporate their products. All entries should submit a photo to the Muskoka Pride email address ( muskokapride@gmail.com ) along with a link to their business website by July 20, 2013. Muskoka Pride will link all supporting businesses from our website as a supporter. All entries will be posted on www.muskokapride.com & th Facebook Page and will be voted on during Muskoka Pride Week (July 20 – 28) and at the 5th annual Muskoka Pride Picnic on July 28th at Annie Williams Park from 12-4pm. The winning business will be announced at the “Creating LGBT Inclusive Communities Conference” on September 18th in Gravenhurst. With World Pride being held in Toronto in 2014, the Muskoka Pride Committee wants to show the world that Muskoka is a great destination for the LGBTQA community. OPSEU Rainbow Alliance has created a scholarship program with Muskoka Pride to assist community members, students, activists and service providers to attend the first annual Pride Conference in Gravenhurst. The scholarship program will support up to 20 individuals to attend this year’s conference events on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013. Applications for the scholarship program will be release shortly – stay tuned for more details. The Muskoka Pride Conference will be held in Gravenhurst on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013. Hosted by the Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce and presented in partnership with Rainbow Health Ontario, the conference features a keynote speech, 4 concurrent LGBT-competency workshop and a closing Question
